Where to commemorate Remembrance Day in HRM this year

By CityNews Halifax Staff

While most Remembrance Day ceremonies took place with scaled-down events last year, this year will mark the first time in-person ceremonies will be in full swing without any COVID-19 restrictions since 2019.

There are many options around the Halifax Regional Municipality for people looking to honour veterans at a remembrance day ceremony on Friday as well.

A ceremony at Grand Parade will begin at 10:30 a.m.  in front of the War Memorial, where a fly-past by a Cyclone Helicopter is scheduled to occur at 11:11 a.m.

Meantime, a parade will also take place beginning at the Maritime Museum at 10 a.m.

The procession will travel through the downtown core and stop in front of Province House before the downtown ceremony.

There will also be ceremonies throughout HRM including at the Sailor's Memorial in Point Pleasant Park, Cole Harbour Place, The Lower Sackville Cenotaph as well as at Fish Hatchery Park in Bedford and the Cenotaph at Earl Francis Spryfield Memorial Royal Canadian Legion.

People are encouraged to contact their local Legion to learn more about start times and other ongoing events.
