Air Canada begins non-stop flights from Halifax to New York

By Adam Inniss

Non-stop flights to New York City from Halifax are returning for the first time since the pandemic began. Travellers will now be able to get from gate to gate in under two hours, no stops in Toronto or Montreal.

“This non-stop, year round connection between Halifax and New York is another welcome sign that air access is opening up for our city and province,” said Halifax Mayor Mike Savage in a statement on the service.

The first Air Canada flight from Halifax Stanfield International Airport right to Newark Liberty International Airport took place December 16, marking the beginning of the new service.

The non-stop service will operate four times weekly. Then on January 8 2023, it will become daily. Making travel between Atlantic Canada's largest city and the biggest city in America easier.

Passengers can also pre-clear U.S. Customs in Halifax, which means these travellers are not required to visit U.S. Customs when they land in Newark.
