Mooseheads erase three-goal deficit, down Eagles in OT

The Halifax Mooseheads managed to come back from a three-goal deficit in game two of the Battle of Nova Scotia.

It was all the Cape Breton Eagles to start this one.

Cape Breton captain Ivan Ivan opened the scoring 1:13 into the game and scored again less than two minutes later. He’d complete the hattrick in the second period as the Eagles would go up 3-0 over the hometown Mooseheads.

Halifax started waking up later in the second period, as Brody Fournier would get the Mooseheads on the board and make it a two-goal game.

In the third period, it was Halifax’s big guns that would get the job done. Josh Lawrence brought the game within one before Alex Doucet tied it up at three in the final minute of play on a pass from Jordan Dumais.

After having a goal waived off on a lengthy review, Evan Boucher scored to win the game for Halifax halfway through the overtime period.

The series is now 2-0 for the Mooseheads.

Halifax will be back in action as the teams cross the Canso Causeway to Cape Breton for game three.
