RCMP cancel emergency alert, continue to search for suspect

Just after 3 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, RCMP posted an emergency alert to say that they have officers in the area of Sergeant Lane in River John searching for 35-year-old David Chisholm, who police say may be armed.

Later Wednesday evening New Glasgow Police tweeted that they had an operation underway on Almont Avenue, Fraser Street and Alexander Street in that community in connection with the search, but just after 6 tweeted that the search had concluded and residents were no longer required to shelter in place.

The Shelter in Place has been lifted at this time
Police were in these areas as part of an ongoing investigation.

Just after 9 p.m. Wednesday night RCMP tweeted that the alert had been cancelled, but they still consider Chisholm a “person of interest”.

Chisholm is described as 5 foot 6 inches tall, about 145 pounds, with a shaved head and hazel eyes.
RCMP says Chisholm was last seen wearing a black sweater. Chisholm is believed to be on foot.
Police are asking anyone who sees Chisholm not to approach him and dial 9-1-1 immediately.
Drivers in the area are also asked not to pick up hitchhikers.
