L’Heureux hat trick propels Mooseheads to lead in QMJHL quarterfinal

Mooseheads opened the scoring late in the 1st period when Zach L’Heureux found the net while on the powerplay with just 7 seconds left in the opening frame. Josh Lawrence and Alexandre Doucet with the assists.

The Moose took a two-goal lead 7:45 into the 2nd period when Brody Fournier beat Moncton goalie Jacob Steinman to make it 2-0. Logan Crosby and Brady Schultz with helpers on the goal.

Zach L’Heureux tallied his second of the game just 1:33 into the 3rd period on a feed from Cameron Whynot to give the Mooseheads a 3-0 lead.

Moncton got on the board at the 6:52 mark of the 3rd with a goal from Thomas Auger off a faceoff in the Moosehead’s end. Connor Trenholm and Etienne Morin with assists on the Wildcat marker.

Then, just over three minutes later, Moncton made the score 3-2 with a goal from Oscar Plandowski.  Vincent Labelle and Jacob Steinman with the assists.

Moncton pulled their goalie for the extra attacker with 2:02 left in the period. With 38 seconds remaining in the contest, Zach L’Heureux completed the hat trick with an empty net goal sealing the 4-2 win for Halifax, who now lead their best-of-seven series two games to one.
