Mooseheads shut out Phoenix 5-0 to take 3-2 series lead

The Halifax Mooseheads are now leading their semi-final series against Sherbrooke 3-2 after picking up a 5-0 win on Saturday.

The Mooseheads’ opened up the scoring early with David Moravec scoring his first goal of the playoffs.

Evan Boucher made it 2-0 heading into the second period.

Halifax’s captain Attilio Biasca built on the team’s first period momentum, adding a quick tally early in the second period.

Moravec netted his second of the afternoon to give Halifax a big 4-0 lead.

Zachary L’Heureux extended the Herd’s lead to 5-0 early in the final period to help seal the deal for the Mooseheads.

Mathis Rousseau had 26 saves in a shut out performance.

Halifax will have a chance to advance to the final round on Sunday when they head back to Sherbrooke.
