Remparts embrace Mooseheads fan who was bullied in Quebec City

The Quebec Remparts welcomed a Halifax Mooseheads super-fan to the team’s practice on Monday after he was harassed in Quebec City over the weekend.

Tyler Long, who has Downs Syndrome, was reportedly the victim of bullying by some fans at the Videotron Centre during game two of the QMJHL finals on Saturday.

After hearing about the incident, the Remparts invited Long to their practice on Monday in Dartmouth. The 28-year-old Mooseheads supporter got to hang out with the team on the ice and spent time with head coach and former NHL superstar Patrick Roy.

According to Mikaël Lalancette with Le Soleil de Québec, the Remparts provided Long and his family with $5,000 and also offered them a box at the Videotron Centre to watch game five, but that offer was “politely declined”.

“May this serve as a reminder to all fans out there that hockey is just a game. Win or lose, home or away, there is no place or time for disrespect towards one another,” the QMJHL said in a post.
