Downtown streets reopened as package deemed not suspicious

UPDATE: Police say the package was not suspicious and all streets have been reopened. 

Halifax Regional Police are investigating a suspicious package in downtown Halifax.

At approximately 8:25 a.m., officers responded to a report of a suspicious package in the 1700 block of Hollis Street.

According to HRP, Hollis Street between Duke and Prince streets and George Street between Barrington and Hollis is closed to pedestrian and vehicular traffic to allow officers to conduct the investigation.

Police are asking commuters to use alternate routes to avoid delays.
