Halifax police charge two men as part of human trafficking investigation

Regional police have laid additional charges as part of an ongoing human trafficking investigation.

In January, police received a report of human trafficking in the region with incidents occurring between May 2021 and April 2023, involving six victims, some of whom were youths.

As a result, two men were arrested last week in addition to another man who was arrested last month.

Shane Jason Mahar, 49, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date to face charges of:

  • Trafficking of a person under 18 years of age (x2)
  • Communicating for the purpose of obtaining sexual services of a person under 18 years of age (x2)
  • Possession of child pornography

Richard Walter Beaver, 33, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date to face one count of trafficking of a person under 18 years of age.

Adam Ray Greenlaw, 40, was arrested last month and is facing 44 charges in relation to the investigation.
