Interrupter clause causes spike in diesel prices overnight

By CityNews Halifax Staff

There is a significant jump in the price of diesel in the Halifax area this morning.

The price for diesel fuel has increased by 7.4 cents after the provincial regulator invoked the interrupter clause at midnight.

People will be paying 188.4 cents per litre this morning for diesel.

In a release, the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board said the change was “necessary due to significant shifts in the market price of diesel oil.”

The interrupter clause only impacted diesel so the price for self-serve gasoline remains 183.7.
