Eskasoni man charged in weekend stabbing

A 34-year-old Eskasoni man has been charged after a stabbing in the community over the weekend.

Officers responded to the call on Shore Road early Saturday morning and found a 31-year-old man stabbed in the stomach.

About five hours later, officers spotted the suspect on Mountain Road and took him into custody. Investigators also searched a home on Shore Road and seized a knife, clothes, and DNA evidence.

James Robert Morris Jr., 34, of Eskasoni, has been charged with aggravated assault, uttering threats (two counts), possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (two counts),  mischief (three counts), breach of probation (three counts) and failure to comply with conditions of a release order (two counts).

Morris was scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
