Teen killed in weekend Lunenburg County crash

A 17-year-old was killed, and five others were injured after a two-car collision early Sunday morning in Lunenburg County.

RCMP and other emergency services were called to the scene on Highway 12 in New Ross around 1:15 a.m. to find that a Honda Civic and a Toyota Corolla heading in opposite directions collided.

The lone passenger in a Honda Civic, a 17-year-old from Chester Grant, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of that car, a 20-year-old from New Ross, suffered severe injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. Four people in the Toyota, including the 26-year-old driver, a 28-year-old woman, a 28-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman, were injured and taken to hospital.

Highway 12 was closed for some time on Sunday as police and a collision reconstructionist completed their investigation.  It has since reopened.
