Rainfall warning issued for HRM and the entire province of Nova Scotia

Environment Canada says the latest system to bring rain to the province will drop between 40 millimetres (mm) to 80 mm of rain beginning late Tuesday and continue through Wednesday morning.

The national forecaster says there is some uncertainty regarding how this weather disturbance will evolve as it tracks across the province and warns that as things become more precise, the timing and locations of the heaviest rain and expected rainfall amounts may change.

Residents are warned to watch for heavy downpours, which can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Environment Canada says localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible, as are possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.

This latest storm is unrelated to Hurricane Franklin, which Environment Canada says remains well south of the province.
