Nova Scotia’s Turnbull signs with Toronto of the PWHL

A Nova Scotia hockey Olympian will be joining the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL).

The yet-to-be-named Toronto franchise has announced it’s signed Stellarton’s Blayre Turnbull to a three-year contract.

The team also inking Sarah Nurse and Renata Fast to three year deals. Salary wasn’t disclosed, but the Canadian Press reports the PWHL’s annual salaries will range from $35,000 to $80,000 USD.

All three players were part of Canada’s gold medal run at last year’s Beijing Olympics.

The PWHL opens its inaugural season in January with teams in Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, Boston, Minneapolis-St. Paul and New York City.
