Halifax Fire crews battle blaze at Pockwock Road auto shop

At least eight Halifax Fire trucks and some command personnel responded to a fire call on Pockwock Road Wednesday morning.

Dave Meldrum, deputy chief of the Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency (HFRE) told CityNews the initial call came in around 8:30 a.m. that an auto repair shop in the 1000 block of Pockwock Road was on fire.

Meldrum said everyone got out of the building safely, and no injuries were reported.

He said crews managed to contain the fire to prevent it from spreading, but firefighters were expected to be on-site for several hours.

Pockwock Road was closed near the fire site to allow firefighters to access a hydrant.

There has been no indication of a cause.
