The defenceman from Upper Tantallon was just recently returned to the Mooseheads after attending the San Jose Sharks’ training camp.
Furlong becomes the 35th captain in Mooseheads history, and the 10th from Nova Scotia.
“Jake exemplifies the values of the Halifax Mooseheads. His work ethic, consistency and commitment make him a great ambassador for our organization,” said head coach Jim Midgley.
Veteran forwards Markus Vidicek and Jordan Dumais will serve as alternate captains. Defenceman Brady Schultz and forward Mathieu Cataford will rotate wearing a letter during home and away games.
