Man charged with second-degree murder in Dartmouth stabbing

Regional police have charged a man with second-degree murder in connection to a stabbing that took place in Dartmouth on Monday.

At roughly 1:15 p.m., officers responded to an altercation in the 200 block of Portland Street where they found a man who had been stabbed.

Police say the victim was transported to hospital where he later died of his wounds. An autopsy determined the cause of death was a homicide.

Officers arrested a man nearby without incident and the victim was identified as 27-year-old Benjamin Ward Clattenburg.

Police say 33-year-old Jamie Duckenfield is charged with second-degree murder.

He was scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on Tuesday.
