Police lay firearms charges after a Dartmouth vehicle stop

A 39-year-old has been charged with a series of firearms offences after a traffic stop in Dartmouth last week.

Regional Police stopped a vehicle on Fundy Lane on Friday as part of an ongoing operation in the area, took a man into custody, and seized a loaded firearm.

As a result of that arrest, 29-year-old Ivan Santell Thompson faces the following charges:

·       Possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm
with ammunition

·        Possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm
or ammunition with no license

·        Unauthorized possession of a firearm

·        Unsafe storage of a firearm contrary to
regulations

·        Storing a restricted weapon contrary to
regulations

·        Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public
peace

·        Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to
a court order

·        Carrying a concealed weapon

·        Possession of a firearm in vehicle

Thompson was scheduled to appear in court yesterday.
