Nova Scotia’s police watchdog investigating incident in Amherst

The province’s police watchdog is investigating a collision that resulted in serious injuries in Amherst.

The Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) looks into police matters involving death, injury, assault and other matters of significant public interest.

In a release, SiRT says they are investigating an incident from Oct. 17 in which Amherst police were attempting to stop a vehicle.

During the high-speed chase, the suspect’s vehicle crashed into a house, resulting in serious injuries to the male driver and female passenger.

Due to the seriousness of the injuries, SiRT has been tasked with investigating the incident.
