By CityNews Halifax Staff

The Halifax Mooseheads came out on top against the Charlottetown Islanders on Friday night, picking up a 6-2 win.

Brody Fournier opened up the scoring early in the first period to put the Herd up by one.

Markus Vidicek followed up later in the period to make it 2-0.

Vidicek extended Halifax’s lead to 3-0 in the second period with Jordan Dumais following up to make it 4-0 in the third period.

Charlottetown showed some life in the third period as Cole Huckins and Giovanni Morneau scored back-to-back to bring the Herd within two.

But Mathieu Cataford and Dumais answered right back to make it a 6-2 final.

The Mooseheads will make their way to Bathurst to take on the Titan on Saturday.
