Bridgewater police won’t face charges after altercation with woman: SiRT

By CityNews Halifax Staff

Nova Scotia’s police watchdog say they won’t be filing charges against police in Bridgewater after an incident early this summer.

On June 25, crews were called to put out a large open fire on the woman’s property in spite of a municipal fire ban.

According to the province’s Serious Incident Response Team, the woman was preventing crews from extinguishing the fire.

The woman allegedly suffered a fractured hip after she fell during an altercation with first responders.

However SiRT concluded the investigation because the woman did not provide a statement, identify an officer or consent to releasing her medical records.

SiRT independently investigates all serious incidents which arise from the actions of police in Nova Scotia.
