Halifax startup hub gets a financial boost from the province

By CityNews Halifax Staff

Nova Scotia has announced new funding for a Halifax-based startup hub.

The province’s Minister of Economic Development made the announcement during the grand opening of Volta’s new space in Halifax.

Nearly $3.8 million will be invested in the start-up hub, with $750,000 over for five years going towards educational programs, mentorship, tools and supports to help startups grow their businesses.

Volta was established in 2013 by a group of emerging technology entrepreneurs and currently supports 61 resident companies.

Minister Susan Corkum-Greek said the funding will help “even more Nova Scotia businesses take risks, build momentum and thrive.”
