Dartmouth man faces multiple charges after theft in Truro

A Dartmouth man is facing several charges after an incident in Colchester County.

RCMP say they were called to a hardware store in Truro on Nov. 13 when two people allegedly stole merchandise before fleeing in a vehicle.

Mounties say they soon located and arrested one man in a Hyundai Genesis when he got stuck trying to reverse over a retaining wall.

Officers discoverd more than 30 grams of methamphetamines on the suspect, along with a knife and stolen batteries.

36-year-old Lawrence Donald Cameron faces several charges including possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, assault of a peace officer, theft and others.

He appeared in Truro Provincial Court yesterday and was remanded in custody. He’s scheduled to return in court on November 22, 2023.

The investigation is ongoing and officers are searching for the second suspect.
