Top line propels Mooseheads to win in Bathurst

It was a road game for the Halifax Mooseheads on a rainy Saturday night in Bathurst as the Herd put their nine-game winning streak on the line against the Titan.

Both teams were held off the scoresheet in the first period, with Moosehead’s goaltender Jack Milner the busier of the two, with the Titan mustering 15 shots in the opening frame to the Mooseheads’ five.

The Moosehead’s top line would open the scoring in the second, with Mathieu Cataford scoring at the 5:06 mark of the period.

Jordan Dumais and Marcus Vidicek with the helpers on the opening goal. Less than a minute later, however, the Titan would reply with Igor Mburanumwe netting his third goal of the season to bring the home fans at the K.C. Irving Centre back into the game. The Moose would take the lead on a marker from Marcus Vidicek at the 10:35 mark of the period. Jordan Dumais with his second assist of the night, and Mathieu Cataford also added a helper.

Then, about three minutes later and after a lengthy powerplay, Brody Fornier added the insurance goal for the Moose, making the score 3-1 which ended up as the final.

The number one line for the Halifax Mooseheads tallying 6 points in the win that improves the Mooseheads record to 18-4-1 on the season. Mathieu Cataford winning 1st star of the game honors and Braeden McPhee named third star.

The Mooseheads return to the friendly confines of Scotiabank Arena on Thursday night as they play host to Baie Comeau. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. you can catch all of the action live from the ice with Garreth MacDonald on CityNews 95.7.
