Wind and rainfall warnings issued for parts of HRM as strong fall storm approaches

Another fall storm is going to have an impact on the weather on Monday for much of Nova Scotia, including Halifax County.

Environment Canada has issued a rainfall and wind warning for areas including Halifax County east of Porters Lake, Guysborough County and Cape Breton.

The national forecaster says that beginning Monday afternoon, those regions could see 40 to 60 mm of rain or more, lasting until midnight. Those same regions may also sometimes see strong winds gusting to 90 km/h.

Environment Canada is warning of the potential for flash flooding, localized flooding in low-lying areas, scattered utility outages, and damage to trees and branches.

The storm is expected to move on quickly, with the forecast for Tuesday calling for a mix of sun, clouds, and light winds.
