Mooseheads add depth with pair of Affiliate Players

A New Glasgow skater and a goalie from Quebec aim to shore up the depth for a talented Halifax Mooseheads club.

The team announced on Wednesday that 19-year-olds Ben Mercer of New Glasgow and goalie Thomas Fontaine have been added as Affiliate Players.

That means those players can be called up to the Mooseheads if needed. Mercer currently plays for the Pictou County Weeks Crushers and Fontaine backstops for the Yarmouth Mariners, all in the Maritime Hockey League.

“These are two players that have had a lot of success in the past couple of years and will be able to help our team this season,” Russell said.

The Mooseheads will be back in action on the road against the Armada. Puck-drop is at 8 p.m. Thursday and you can listen live on CityNews 95.7.
