N.S. Government designates Carters Beach as provincial park

A famous Nova Scotia beach is set to be given a provincial park designation.

Carters Beach is considered to be one of the most beautiful beach in the province and the area along with some islands near the Queens County beach will soon be known as, Carters Beach Provincial Park.

Minister of Natural Resources and Renewables, Tory Rushton says with this designation they are aiming to strike a balance between allowing visitors to enjoy the park while also protecting its natural features.

The area provides a nesting habitat for the endangered piping plover and the new park will cover around 97 hectares of crown land.

The department says it plans to add a new parking lot, a trail to the beach, accessible toilets, and garbage facilities to accommodate visitors.

Site preparation for these amenities will start soon.

Some survey work is still needed before the official destination can be made.
