Police lay additional charges in connection to assault at Bedford school

Halifax Regional Police have laid additional charges against three youths in connection to an assault at Rocky lake Jr. High in Bedford.

Last Friday, police arrested three youths who were involved with the incident back in October.

Police say they are scheduled to appear in court at a later date to face one count each of assault.

This all stems from an incident on Oct. 19. At roughly 12:50 p.m., police were called to the school in Bedford where a youth was assaulted with a rock by another youth, who was known to them.

According to HRP, the victim fled to the front lobby but then a vehicle with four adults, known to the suspect, pulled into the school parking lot.

The adults, along with the suspect and other youths, then entered the school and assaulted the victim again.

Police say one of the adults threatened school staff who were trying to intervene.

On Thursday, officers charged one of the youths and three adults involved in the incident.

A 14-year-old youth has been charged with assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm and assault.

A 38-year-old man has been charged with:

  • Dangerous operation of a vehicle
  • Assault
  • Uttering threats to cause bodily harm or death
  • Causing a Disturbance
  • Mischief

An 18-year-old man has been charged with assault, causing a disturbance, and mischief and a 36-year-old woman has been charged with mischief and causing a disturbance.
