Two more councillors have announced they will not be running again when Haligonians head to the polls later in 2024.
District 7 councillor Waye Mason and District 8’s Lindell Smith both made the announcement on the Todd Veinotte Show on Monday morning.
“I’ve been very clear since day one, I planned on running two terms. This is my second term, and it’s my last,” Smith said.
Smith was first elected in 2016 and was relected in 2020 to continue representing the North End of the peninsula.
As for Mason, while he said his time in council is coming to an end, he might still be on the ballot in October.
“If Mike (Savage) isn’t running for mayor, I’m thinking about running for mayor,” Mason said. “I’ve been saying that for years now.”
For his part, Mayor Savage has not said if he plans to run for another term.
Councillors Shawn Cleary, Tim Outhit and Lisa Blackburn previously announced they won’t be reoffering.
