HRM to enforce the municipal overnight winter parking ban Saturday morning

Drivers who park on city streets in HRM must find alternative arrangements on Saturday morning.

The municipality has enacted its overnight winter parking ban for Zone 1 and Zone 2 from 1 am until 6 am. Saturday, January 27.  A zone map is available here.

According to a release from HRM, all vehicles must be parked off municipal streets during these hours. Regardless of the status of an overnight winter parking ban, vehicles can be towed day or night at any time of year if they interfere with snow-clearing operations, as per Section 139 of the Nova Scotia Motor Vehicle Act.

HRM is also asking residents to make sure that any planters, lawn decorations and any other portable objects near the sidewalk are removed, and any permanent structures or objects too big to move should be marked with a reflector to help their crews identify obstacles.

HRM also reminds residents that any snow they clear from their yards is piled on their property, as piling snow in the street or on the sidewalk is against a municipal by-law.
