RCMP lay charges in serious head-on crash that shut down Hwy 102 last October

A man has been charged in relation to a serious crash on Hwy 102 that stems from October of last year.

Nova Scotia RCMP say on Oct. 28, emergency crews responded to a head-on collision between a Toyota Echo and Jeep Wrangler near Miller Lake.

Just prior to the crash, officers had received reports of an Echo driving dangerously and a high speeds on Windmill Road and Hwy 118.

At the crash, the driver fled the scene while two occupants of the Wrangler received minor injuries and a third person suffered serious injuries.

The incident also shut down a section of one of Nova Scotia’s busiest highways for several hours that weekend.

After an investigation and several tips from the public, police arrested 35-year old Stephen Andrew Coleman at a hotel on Kearney Lake Road on Jan. 23.

Coleman was remanded into custody and will face several charges in court on January 30.
