There is some good news for commuters.
The province says the Burnside Connector will be finished this year, and it will be on budget.
The Hwy 107 extension, known as the Sackville-Bedford-Burnside Connector has been underway for years but the province’s Public Works Minister now says it will be completed in 2024.
Kim Masland admits she is not sure exactly when.
“There were a lot of factors in delay of this,” she says, noting extreme weather events and the relocation of utilities. “And there were two black ash trees that had to be moved as well.”
Masland says those two black ash trees were moved due to their cultural significant to the Mikmaq people, adding they have been replanted.
She says some work is continuing on the connector over the winter months including adding signage.
Masland calls this a difficult project, but says it will finish on budget.
