Regional police have charged a man in connection to an assault in downtown Halifax.

On Saturday shortly before midnight, police responded to a disturbance outside of the Economy Shoe Shop on Argyle Street where a man was kicked out of the bar due his state of intoxication.

According to police, once he was outside, he assaulted one of the staff members causing them to strike their head on a metal post.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment of what were believed to be serious but non-life treatening injuries.

A 20-year-old man is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date to face one count of assault causing bodily harm.
