Two people face charges after robbery at Dartmouth Sobeys

Two people are facing charges in connection to a robbery in Dartmouth on Tuesday.

Police say at roughly 11:25 a.m., officers responded to the Sobeys on Wyse Road where two men stole merchandise, assaulted an employee and then fled the area on foot.

The two suspects were arrested a short time later.

According to HRP, the suspect who assaulted the employee tried to run from officers but was quickly taken into custody after a brief struggle.

Justin Russell Stroud, 28, was scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court Wednesday to face charges of:

  • Robbery with violence.
  • Assault a peace officer
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Uttering threats to cause bodily harm or death  
  • Resist arrest       

Danielle Kimberley Bartlett-Asselstine, 39, was also scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court Wednesday to face charges of:

  • Fail to comply with probation order (x2)
  • Possession of prop obtained by crime under $5,000
