Meteorologist Cindy Day has been “beaming all day” after name-drop on ‘Jeopardy!’

A familiar name for Maritimers was mentioned on Wednesday night’s Jeopardy! episode.

“Meteorologist Cindy Day says that like an honest talk, thunderstorms do this when dry, westerly winds are behind them,” said host Ken Jennings on the popular game show, to no responses from the contenders. “Just like a good talk – they clear the air.”

Day, the long-time meteorologist with CTV Atlantic in Halifax, said a friend texted her a recording of the clip Wednesday night.

“She said ‘you won’t believe this!’ and sure enough, I couldn’t believe it,” Day told CityNews in an interview on Thursday.

Day said she had spoken to the Jeopardy! research department about three years ago and provided some quotes on Thunderstorms, but hadn’t heard anything since.

“It’s so cool,” Day said. “And what I think is the coolest part of all was hearing Ken Jennings actually say my name. I thought that was very, very cool and I’ve been beaming all day.”

The meteorologist, who now runs her own subscription weather service at CindyDay.ca, said the response has been overwhelming as she’s heard from friends and fans far and wide.

“It’s just been a lot of fun,” Day said.
