The Moncton Wildcats dominated the Halifax Mooseheads in a lopsided 8-2 win on Sunday.

The Wildcats came out swinging as Julius Sumpf scored back-to-back goals to give Moncton an early 2-0 lead.

Adam Fortier-Gendron extended that lead to 3-0 but Peter Reynolds brought the Herd back within two shortly after.

The Mooseheads’ luck didn’t turn as Miles Mueller scored on a power play late in the opening period.

Mueller followed up with his second of the afternoon in the second period with Thomas Auger following up shortly after to make it 6-1 Moncton.

Liam Kilfoil found the back of Moncton’s net late in the second but Vincent Collard and Olivier Boutin answered right back to make it a 8-2 Wildcats heading into the final period.

The Herd wasn’t able to mount a comeback and the Wildcats coasted to a 8-2 win.

The Mooseheads will have a chance at redemption tomorrow when both teams square off in Moncton for a matinee matchup.
