Special weather statement issued with rain and strong winds forecast for weekend

Nova Scotians are gearing up to deal with another storm making its way to our region.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for HRM and areas to the north, including Cape Breton, warning of a storm that could bring heavy rain and strong winds Friday night into Saturday.

The national forecaster says most regions could see rainfall amounts ranging from 25 to 50 mm from this system, and with the ground frozen, that could create localized flooding.

The winds could also be an issue, with gusts as high as 90 km/h expected.

Environment Canada says significant snowmelt and runoff may occur due to this storm and is reminding residents to clear storm drains and gutters of ice and other debris.
