Corey William Murphy murdered 20 years ago today in Halifax, police continue to investigate

Saturday marks the 20th anniversary of the murder of Corey William Murphy in Halifax and police say they haven’t given up on the case.

Police say on March 2, 2004, police were called to the area of Herring Cove Road and Hilden Drive at around 7:45 p.m. There, officers located Murphy, who had been shot. He was taken to hospital where he later died.

Investigators say they believe this was a targeted attack and there are people who have information that could help solve Murphy’s murder.

Police are asking anyone with information to come forward with what they know and call police at 902-490-5020.

Murphy’s case is part of the Nova Scotia Department of Justice rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program. It offers cash rewards of up to $150,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for specified major unsolved crimes.

Callers must contact the Rewards Program at 1-888-710-9090, must provide their name and contact information, and may be called to testify in court. All calls are recorded and the award amount is based on the investigative value of the information provided.
