Halifax Regional Police apprehend suspect in weekend vehicle theft

Halifax Regional Police has reported a man has been charged in relation to a vehicle theft in Halifax.

On Saturday afternoon, HRP received a report that a vehicle had been stolen on the 2200 block of Maitland St.

The owner of the vehicle received a notification that his bank card had been used and when he went to check his vehicle – where he left his wallet – the vehicle was gone.

Later that evening, officers attempted to stop a stolen vehicle on Primrose St. in Dartmouth. The driver of the vehicle stopped and fled on foot only to be arrested a short time later.

A 34-year-old man is set to appear in court Monday to face charges of theft, fraud, and possession of property obtained by crime in relation to the incident.
