Mooseheads drop second straight as Roelens wins it again in OT for Titan

The Halifax Mooseheads have their work cut out for them after losing games one and two at home to the Acadie Bathurst Titan to open to 2024 QMJHL playoffs.

Milo Roelens scored in overtime in the second consecutive game to give Bathurst the 2-1 win over Halifax on Saturday night.

The Mooseheads got some life in the third period, tying the game at one on a wraparound goal from Mathieu Cataford. And for a moment it looked like Halifax had pulled off the win with a buzzer-beater from Markus Vidicek, but the goal was waived off as time had just barely expired.

In overtime, David Moravec tossed the puck over the glass and was handed a delay-of-game penalty. Roelens finished the game for the Titan on that powerplay.

The loss is the sixth in a row on home ice for Halifax against Bathurst, and the Mooseheads now face a 0-2 series deficit heading to the Titan’s home rink for games three and four.

Game three goes Tuesday night at 7 p.m. You can catch all the action on CityNews 95.7.
