The Acadie-Bathurst Titan have taken a stranglehold on the first round series with the Halifax Mooseheads in what was essentially a must-win for the Herd on Tuesday night.
Despite having their backs against the wall, the effort wasn’t there for the Mooseheads as the Titan took the win by a score of 7-2 to take a commanding 3-0 series lead.
The Titan scored the only goal of the first period and jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the game with two quick markers to open the second.
Liam Kilfoil responded for Halifax with two hard-working goals in tight in the second period, but that was all the Moose could muster in this one.
The game went off the rails for good for Halifax as Bathurst put up three goals in the first seven minutes of the third.
The teams will meet again on Wednesday night at the KC Irving arena with the season on the line for the Mooseheads. After a brilliant regular season finishing second in the eastern conference, Halifax will look to avoid the sweep at the hands of the seventh-seeded Titan.
