Integrated Youth Services sites coming to Nova Scotia, with two in Halifax

The province has announced an $8.4 million plan to open several Integrated Youth Services sites across in Nova Scotia.

Minister Brian Comer made the announcement in Stellarton on Wednesday. He said the sites will offer easier access the mental health, addictions and related supports to young Nova Scotians and their families.

“It’s really about having services within the communities, highly accessible, no appointment needed, just show up and we’ll provide help,” Comer said. “Sometimes it might be mental health care, sometimes it could be housing, sometimes it could be resume writing. It’s all unique based on the unique community.

Seven locations were announced including two in Halifax, with the YMCA and YWCA taking the lead on those.

The province says site selection is currently underway and the first sites are expected to open in early 2025.
