Four people charged in 2022 murder in Springfield, N.S.

Three charges of first-degree murder have been laid in the case of Barry Albert, who was killed in Springfield, N.S. in 2022.

Albert, who also went by Barry Mosher, was reported missing in August 2022. His body was found in a Springfield home on Oct. 8 2022.

The medical examiner ruled the death a homicide.

Four people were arrested on Apr. 14 and 15, 2024, according to the RCMP. Derrick Robar, 32, Kris Buttar, 44, and Alan Rankin, 43, have been charged with first-degree murder while William Zinck, 25, has been charged with being an accessory after the fact.

All four are expected to appear in an Annapolis Royal courtroom on Wednesday.

“From the information and evidence gathered, additional arrests and charges are expected,” the RCMP said in a press release.

Several police services were involved in the arrests, including the RCMP, the Bridgewater Police Service and Halifax Regional Police.

The Mounties said the investigation is ongoing.
