Suspects ‘forced their way’ into home, assaulted occupants: RCMP

The Pictou County District RCMP has charged two men involved in a home invasion.

On April 9, just before midnight the suspects allegedly “forced their way” into a home on West River Drive in Durham, the press release from the RCMP reads.

The suspects assaulted three adults and damaged vehicles parked in the driveway before fleeing the scene.

One of the victims recognized the suspects and provided their names to the police.

Two males, from the Pictou area, were located and arrested by officers a short time later, police said. 

Jared Hugh Sutherland, 23, has been charged with:

  • Breaking and Entering Committing Offence
  • Assault Causing Bodily Harm (two counts)
  • Mischief (two counts)
  • Theft
  • Overcoming resistance to commission of offence
  • Uttering Threats

Nathan David Gormley, 26, faces charges of:

  • Breaking and Entering Committing Offence
  • Assault Causing Bodily Harm (two counts)
  • Mischief (two counts)
  • Theft
  • Assault
  • Uttering Threats

They made their first court appearance on April 11 and are due back in court on April 29.
