Man arrested after threatening RCMP officers with knife in Elmsdale

Police arrested a man who was wielding a knife after a chase in a village north of Halifax.

East Hants District RCMP says they received a call at around 9:06 p.m. about a man with a knife at an apartment complex in Elmsdale, N.S.

Mounties say the man fled and tried to carjack multiple vehicles before threatening officers with his weapon.

Police say the tasered and arrested Christopher Isaac McDonald, 30, from Sipekne’katik First Nation and charged him with:

  • Three counts of robbery
  • Assault a peace officer
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Resists a peace officer
  • Three counts of failure to comply with order

McDonald appeared before court and was remanded in custody. He will be back in Shubenacadie Provincial Court on April 22.
