Charges laid in weekend Fairview weapons call

A 36-year-old man will appear in court on Monday to face several charges after a weapons call in the Fairview neighbourhood early Sunday morning.

Police were called to an apartment on Evans Ave around 2:40 a.m. after receiving a report of a man wielding a hatchet.

When officers arrived, they found a man inside an apartment who refused to leave.

After police deployed a “sensory irritant,” the man came out of the apartment and was arrested without incident. Officers seized the hatchet along with a replica firearm.

Scott David Goldsmith now faces one count of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public and two counts of mischief.
