‘Far-right’ extremist symbols painted on highway in Lunenburg area

The Nova Scotia Department of Public Works says they are working to remove symbols that were painted on a highway in the Lunenburg area and “elsewhere.”

According to Gary Andrea, a spokesperson from public works, the symbols appeared overnight in “recent days.”

“Public Works staff are assigning resources to the issue and will have the symbols covered soon,” he told CityNews Halifax in an email. “We ask the public to report any suspicious activity to the RCMP, who are also aware of these recent incidents of vandalism.”

In a post on X, the department does not say what the symbols are of or what group they are from.

But Andrea says, “The Minister of Public Works wants to be clear that the government strongly condemns Diagolon.”

“There’s no room for this kind of vandalism by extremist groups that threaten our communities,” the email reads.
