The famous Bud the Spud chip wagon moved from spot after 47 years

It appears that what has become a Halifax tradition for nearly 50 years is coming to an end. In a post to their Facebook page, the owners of the food truck Bud the Spud say they will not be setting up in their usual spot on Spring Garden Rd next to the old Central Library this year.

The post reads, “It saddens us to share this unexpected twist in our journey with Bud the Spud, but we will not be on spring garden this season. After nearly half a century of spuds shared in front of the old library, a blind bid managed by the city has led to a new tenant in our familiar spot.”

The owners of the truck that has been operating on the same spot since 1977 went on to write, “It’s hard to put into words the mix of emotions as we bid farewell to a location that’s not just a spot on the map, but a piece of Halifax’s culinary history—our truck’s heritage.”

Diners will still be able to find the famous truck on the streets of Halifax this summer. The post says the familiar truck will continue to operate, setting up in various locations throughout the summer and posting a list of its new spots on its social media sites.
