Nova Scotia’s police watchdog says it has cleared an HRP officer of any wrongdoing in connection to a serious injury sustained during an arrest.
This comes after an incident in October 2023 when a man wanted for assault with a weapon was reported to be at a Dartmouth pharmacy.
When police arrived, he had already left in a taxi which resulted in an officer pulling the cab over.
The Serious Incident Response team said the suspect fled on foot which resulted in a chase where the responding officers used a taser on the man.
He fell face down on the ground and suffered an orbital bone fracture, as a result.
After an investigation, SiRT said it found no reasonable grounds to believe that the officer committed a criminal offence.
