A mainstay on rock radio in the late 1980s and early 1990s is making a long-awaited return to Halifax this summer.
The Grapes of Wrath last played the city 32 years ago at the height of the Vancouver trio’s commercial success.
The multi-platinum-selling band behind hits like You May Be Right and All The Things I Wasn’t are returning on their 40th anniversary tour and stopping for two shows at The Carleton on Argyle Street.
The band will appear on August 17 with an acoustic matinee at 2 p.m. as well as an evening concert, which will be a fully electric show, starting at 8 p.m.
The Juno-nominated band was a constant on radio and MuchMusic with several hit singles after first forming in April of 1983 as a cover band called Honda Civic.
Renaming themselves The Grapes Of Wrath (after the classic movie of the same name), they signed to Nettwerk Records in 1985 and released their first album, September Bowl Of Green as well as 1987’s Treehouse and platinum-selling albums, Now and Again (1989) and These Days (1991).
The band also reunited in 2000 and released the album, Field Trip and 2013’s High Road.
